DTI Petroleum Operations Notice
No. 8 Application to complete and/or work over a well

NOTE : The DTI no longer requires a description of the procedures and methods to be used when a well is to be completed or worked over. These operations are covered by the Offshore Safety Act 1992, and The Offshore Installations and Wells (Design and Construction etc) Regulations 1996.

1. WELL COMPLETION

Application for consent to complete, where required, should be sbmitted where a well is for production purposes, or is being put on long term production test (longer than 4 days), and should contain a diagram of the well completion showing the downhole equipment to be installed, with approximate depths, together with the producing formation(s) and proposed perforated interval(s). The attached Proforma may be used.

2. WORKOVER

Application for consent to workover a well, where required, may be made on the attached Proforma, and should contain the following information :

1. Reason for the workover

2. Present status of well and proposed recompleted status of well

3. A revised completion diagram showing the downhole equipment to be installed, with approximate depths, together with the producing formation(s) and proposed perforated interval(s).

4. Proposed reservoir monitoring logs (pressures, fluid flow, water saturation).
